Professor Richard Freund, director of the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies, will give a talk titled "Latin American Jewish History: 1800-2014" on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in the KF Room of Mortensen Library.

The Greenberg Center's theme for Spring 2014 is "The Greenberg Center Goes Global." Sunday's program is the second of two free lectures focusing on Judaism in Latin America. Freund is a former Director of the Seminario Rabinico of Latin America in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The talks on Latin America are a lead-up to the new exhibition "Return to the Land: On Jewish Farming Worldwide" that includes rare photos from Jewish farms in Argentina, Israel, Europe and right here in Connecticut. The exhibition will open in the University's Museum of Jewish Civilization (located in Mortensen Library) on May 1, 2014.
