A new version of UNotes will make its debut this Friday (Feb. 28), featuring a number of changes that readers requested in a survey last spring.
In the Spring 2013 UNotes Reader Survey, several key themes emerged. Among the changes most requested by readers were:
The new version of UNotes will address those requests, along with a number of other changes. Readers will be able to see the new version, at www.hartford.edu/daily, after 1 p.m. on Thursday, and the first email using the new format will be sent on Friday morning.
UNotes Daily will continue to come out Monday through Friday, with important campus news and announcements, news for students, accolades, sports, and more.
An additional e-publication known as UNotes Extra will be sent out periodically, as warranted, to showcase major news and feature stories.
One of the biggest changes to UNotes Daily is that members of the University community will be completely responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading their submissions. The way you submit an article is the way it will be seen by readers. After submitting an item to UNotes, you will be directed to a “Preview Page” that will show you exactly how the article will appear. You may then go back and make changes, if you wish.
This new system will make it possible for UNotes articles and announcements to be posted more quickly, and for the UNotes email to come out earlier in the day. Any article that is submitted before 5 p.m. Monday–Thursday will appear in the next morning’s UNotes email. Articles submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday will appear in Monday’s email, and articles submitted over the weekend will appear in Tuesday’s email.
If you have already submitted an article to UNotes, you do not have to re-submit it. It will be published in the “new” UNotes Daily as soon as possible.
If you plan to submit an article between now and Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27, please submit it by email to email@example.com. Starting after 1 p.m. on Feb. 27, articles should be submitted using the submission form on the new UNotes Daily.
If you have any questions about the new UNotes, please contact Barbara Steinberger at 860.768.4225 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
