Due to icy conditions, the University will open today at 10:30 a.m. Classes will begin at 10:50 a.m.
New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Haigh will be on campus on Tuesday, April 22, to read from her work for the University of Hartford community. The reading, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Wilde Auditorium at 12:15 p.m.
The event will be the final reading in the Spring 2014 Cardin Reading Series.
Jennifer Haigh is the author of the short story collection News From Heaven and four critically acclaimed novels: Faith, The Condition, Baker Towers, and Mrs. Kimble. The New York Times review of News from Heaven said, "Ms. Haigh’s fine, enveloping stories are not ordinary or predictable at all" (1/27/13).
Her books have won both the PEN/Hemingway Award for debut fiction and the PEN/L.L. Winship Award for work by a New England writer. Her short fiction has been published widely, in The Atlantic, Granta, The Best American Short Stories 2012, and many other publications.
