In 2013, 77 babies participated at the Cozy Bottoms event site. This year over 100 babies are expected to attend.
The University of Hartford will be a host site for the 4th Annual Great Cloth Diaper Change being held on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m. in the Gengras Cafe.
This site is part of an international event where a Guinness World Record will hopefully be set for the most cloth diaper changes. This site, the only Connecticut site, will be hosted by alumna Julie Melanson Fraysier '07, owner of Cozy Bottoms, a cloth diaper store.
At last year's event over 10,000 babies around the world had their diapers changed into cloth diapers. To qualify to be included in the Guinness World Record count, each site must have a minimum of 25 babies participating. Last year Cozy Bottoms' site had 77 participating babies, placing it in the top 10% of the worldwide sites for attendance.
As part of the festivities, an Earthy Family Fair will also be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with eco-friendly and family-friendly vendors in attendance.
All faculty, staff, students, and alumni are encouraged to bring their children or grandchildren to this world record-setting event, whether they use cloth diapers or not. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 10 a.m. for proper registration. In addition to a Cloth Diapering 101 class prior to the world record-setting event, cloth diapers will be available to those who request one.
