Hartford Hawks pitcher Sean Newcomb, who has yet to allow an earned run in any of his starts this season, has been attracting a lot of attention from Major League Baseball scouts and that, in turn, means that Newcomb is starting to draw attention from the national media.

The Associated Press did a story on Newcomb that went out on the wires on Friday, April 4, (click here to read it), which was picked up by such media outlets as FOX News

In addition, Newcomb is expected to be highlighted in the "Faces in the Crowd" feature in Sports Illustrated magazine in the next few weeks.

The Hartford junior left-hander, who according to scouts' radar guns consistently throws his fastball at 94-95 mph, leads Division I with a 0.00 ERA. He has given up just 14 hits and one unearned run in 39 2-3 innings, while striking out 46 and walking 19. Those numbers have been attracting the scouts ahead of Major League Baseball's amateur draft that starts June 5.  At least one mock draft has Newcomb being selected among the top 20 picks.

No Hawks player has generated this much buzz since Jeff Bagwell in the 1980s.
