Bilal Sekou, associate professor of political science in Hillyer College, was interviewed by WTIC Radio (1080 AM) about the announcement that Ted Kennedy Jr., son of the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, is planning to run for the state Senate in Connecticut. Segments of Sekou's interview were run on the station's hourly news broadcasts through the afternoon and evening on Monday, April 7.
Kennedy was expected to announce on Tuesday (April 8) that he intends to seek the Democratic nomination for the state's 12th Senate District. Kennedy is a 52-year-old health care lawyer who lives in Branford. The district is currently represented by Democrat Edward Meyer of Guilford, who is retiring. The seat represents the towns of Branford, Durham, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison and North Branford.
