The following email was sent to students, faculty, and staff on Friday evening (May 2) by Vice President for Student Affairs Lee Peters.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

It is with sadness that I write today to inform you of the untimely death of one of our University of Hartford Hartt School students, senior Patrick Chittenden.  There is little other official information available at this time.  As more is learned, including funeral/memorial service details, you will be notified via email and/or UNotes.

For students who want to speak with a counselor or just to receive some support, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is making extra hours available next week (GSU 313, 860-768-4482).  In addition, CAPS counselors will be available tomorrow (Saturday) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room N115 of the Handel Performing Arts Center, and the Dean of Students office, 307 Gengras Student Union, will be open Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. as well.

I am sure that we all stand together as the University community in solidarity with Patrick’s family and friends to mourn his death and celebrate his life.

Dr. J. Lee Peters
Vice President for Student Affairs
