Roger Desmond, professor in the School of Communication, College of Arts and Sciences, had an opinion article published in the Wednesday, June 18, issue of the New Haven Register newspaper.

The article, titled "Food 'commandments' shouldn't make us afraid of mac & cheese," argues that the dramatic growth in media covering the food industries has led to a culture that makes people feel bad if they are eating food items that don't have exotic or trendy ingredients in them.

"The function of food journalism should be to show readers the wonders of the world of cuisine and to curate information, not to prescribe or intimidate," Desmond writes.
