Dr. Michael Anderson, associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, A&S, was recently awarded a grant for $201,000 from the National Science Foundation.

The grant is titled “EAGER: Toward ethical intelligent autonomous systems, a case-supported principle-based behavior paradigm.” The intent of the proposed research is to realize a case-supported principle-based behavior paradigm in the domain of eldercare robots, employing, first, a virtual component based upon simulation, and second, an actual component that reifies this simulation using a UBR-1 robot in a laboratory setting.
