Ingrid Russell, Professor of Computer Science in A&S, was an invited speaker on two panels titled “Ensuring your Visibility” and “Strategies to Help Promotion to Full Professor”. The panels were part of a workshop held November 19-20, 2016 in Washington DC and sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Computing Research Association. The goal of the workshop was help the careers of women in computing and to provide critical mentoring and advice to promote the advancement of mid-career women in academia, industry and research labs. Russell’s co-panelists on the first panel were Ayanna Howard, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Georgia Tech, and Amanda Stent, Research Scientist at Bloomberg. Russell’s co-panelists on the second panel were Ellen Walker, Chair of Computer Science and Associate Dean at Hiram College, and Andrea Lynn Stein, professor of Computer and Cognitive Science and a special advisor to the Provost at the Olin College of Engineering.
