Vanessa L. Bond, Assistant Professor of Music Education in The Hartt School, published a book chapter and will have presented at three conferences this month.
"A Pedagogy of Listening: Applications for Music Education" was published as a chapter in European Perspectives on Music Education: Open Ears - Open Minds. A continuation of her work investigating the use of music in Reggio Emilia-inspired environments, Bond used research gathered in her previous case study work to suggest strategies for how music educators might entice young children's natural musicking.
Bond presented a critical narrative study, Like Putting a Circle with a Square: A Male Alto's Choral Journey, at the American Choral Directors' Association National Conference in Minneapolis, MN. The purpose of this narrative inquiry was to explore the experiences of a choral singer and music education student whose voice does not fit traditional choral categorization with the intent of encouraging the music education field to consider those currently underserved in our profession.
In addition to these presentations of scholarly work, Bond will share two professional development sessions with music education practitioners and researchers at the Eastern Division National Association for Music Education Conference in Atlantic City, NJ and the Connecticut Music Educators' Association Conference in Hartford, CT.
