Longtime Coach, Administrator Wickman Passes Away

The University of Hartford Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of longtime coach, administrator and professor Roger Wickman. Wickman passed away at home this weekend at the age of 87.

Wickman spent 30 years at the University of Hartford, most notably as the school’s all-time winningest baseball coach with 146 wins in his tenure. He also coached four other sports, spent over a decade as an athletics administrator and served 17 years as a professor of physical education. 

A resident of Granby, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Jerry), four children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday afternoon, 4-7 p.m. at Carmon Funeral Home in Granby, with a memorial service Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tarriffville.
