Fresh Check Day at the University of Hartford
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to University of Hartford’s Fresh Check Day on Wednesday, April 12 from 12-3 p.m. in the GSU South Cafeteria #freshcheckdayuhart.
Fresh Check Day is a program created by the Jordan Porco Foundation (JPF). It is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting giveaways. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and helps to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available.
“I found this program really beneficial to not only myself but to educate me to help my friends and family,” said a University of Hartford student who attended Fresh Check Day last year, 2016.
University of Hartford is looking forward to their Fresh Check Day to help raise awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.
Fresh Check Day’s National Expansion
In 2016 Fresh Check Day experienced incredible growth to a national reach including 14 states, with 58 events this year alone. Currently, JPF has signed-on 84 schools in 26 states, plus the District of Columbia, and counting.
