The Millennium Development Goals are eight international development goals that every member state of the UN agreed should be accomplished by the year 2015. The goals were set in September of 2000 at the largest gathering of world leaders in history. All of the 189 UN member states and 22 international organizations committed to help achieve these goals. Impoverished nations asked powerful nations for help with their eight most important goals, and the powerful nations agreed to work towards them. The year 2015 has passed, and the goals are far from completed.
Raising awareness about the Millennium Development Goals is very important; we must not forget about the needs of other nations. Please take a look at the banner detailing the goals hanging in GSU this week, and share what you have learned with others.
