The University will open today at 10 a.m. Classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Winterterm on-campus classes with start times prior to 10:30 a.m. will meet beginning at 10:30 a.m. while remaining on-campus and all online classes will meet at their scheduled times.

Join us for our next Psychology Colloquium

Self-Compassion, Well-Being, and Academic Success with Suzsan Averna PhD

Friday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.

East Hall room 104

Self-compassion involves treating oneself with care and concern when considering personal inadequacies, mistakes, failures, and painful life situations. It is a skill that can be learned and practiced. Recent but growing literature on self-compassion links the practice to better mental health, relationships, and learning. Self-compassion training is a promising intervention for college students toward building internal resources for resilience. Results from a brief self-compassion group intervention with college students will be presented and audience members will have the opportunity to engage in experiential exercises.
