The Polaroid Project: At The Intersection of Art and Technology, a group exhibition organized by the FEP - Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography in collaboration with The MIT Museum, WestLicht Museum for Photography, Vienna and C/O in Berlin opens at The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (carter museum.org) on June 2nd.
A book by Thames & Hudson (London, UK) has an essay by Carey; it tours the US and Europe for the next three years. Carey's "Pulls" (CMY) from 1997 are featured on the back cover (UK) and illustrates her essay; Pull with Mixed & Off-Set Pods (2011) is also published.
This exhibition highlights Dr. Edwin Land (1909-1991), who was born in Bridgeport (CT), his archive and inventions, all from The MIT Museum; Polaroid artworks of 160 artists and photographers, who used Polaroid and its various cameras/film, such as Andy Warhol, Ansel Adams, Marie Cosindas and Barbara Kasten, will be featured in the exhibition and/or book. Ellen Carey gives a lecture there on June 15th titled Back to the Future: The Avant-Garde is An Address which highlight the museum's role in featuring photography, with an emphasis on her experimental Polaroid work.
