MetroHartford Alliance Senior Vice President Nancy Wheeler presents President Harrison with his award.
University of Hartford President Walter Harrison was recognized on Thursday, June 8, at a “Rising Stars Awards” breakfast hosted by the MetroHartford Alliance and the Hartford Business Journal. Hundreds of professionals attended the event, which was part of the 2017 Connecticut Business Summit held at the Connecticut Convention Center.
The award recognizes individuals and institutions who, through their leadership and accomplishments, are making “sustainable differences” in Hartford and the surrounding region.
Nancy Wheeler, senior vice president and executive director for investor relations for the MetroHartford Alliance presented the award to President Harrison while Oz Griebel, president and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance, cited President Harrison’s “19 years of inspired leadership at the University of Hartford and his passion for learning, the city [of Hartford], and improving the quality of life for all in the region.”
Recipients also included the Bradley Development League, the Hartford Public Library, and Linda Kelly, past president of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
Topping off the morning was a panel discussion on “The Power of Leadership,” moderated by Griebel, where awardees fielded questions on leadership, the importance of collaboration, and the recruitment and retention of talent.
