A retirement "farewell" reception will be held for John J. Carson today, Thursday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Henry Roberts Room.
Carson graduated from the University with a degree in economics in 1965, served two terms as an alumnus on the Board of Regents, and was an adjunct professor of economics. In 1997, he joined the University on a full-time basis as interim vice president of finance and administration, and over the subsequent two decades, he held multiple roles—including vice president for university relations, interim director of athletics, and two separate terms as senior advisor to the president. Carson received the University Medal for Distinguished Service at Commencement in May 2016.
Having officially retired last month, Carson is continuing on as a personal advisor to President Gregory Woodward and as an ongoing bridge to the UHart community on a part-time basis for the remainder of this year.
