Members of the University organization Women for Change will unveil their ninth annual calendar on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at (7:30 p.m.) in GSU 331 and 333. All members of the University and larger community are invited to attend. Dessert will be available.
The theme of this year’s calendar is “Wonder(ful) Women” inspired by Wonder Woman. Participants wrote about why they are sheros. The annual calendar is designed to combat stereotypical images of women, offering a new view.
Each year, we feature a community partner who receives 10% of the calendar proceeds. The cost of the calendar is $10. This year it’s Autism Speaks in the name of Rachel D’Avino. Rachel graduated with her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Hartford in 2007. On December 14, 2012, Rachel was one of the six adults to be shot in The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT. She was working at the school as a behavioral therapist; she was 29 years old. Outside East Hall (Psychology Department) stands a bench that it dedicated to Rachel. It reads: “there is a hero in all of us.”
Please join us as we celebrate Wonder(ful) Women!
