As faculty members, we have a responsibility to respond to events that happen on our campus. By that, I mean we have an ability to respond.
How do we do that? How are our options shaped by employment status, discipline, and personal identity?
In this workshop, I will start with a view informed by Kwame Anthony Appiah's understanding of cosmopolitanism, with particular focus on how he defines facts and values. From there, we will discuss what we as faculty can do to make sure our students feel safe and secure on our campus and in our classrooms as they pursue the education that brought all of us here in the first place.
