Members of the university community are invited to attend a reception TODAY, Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m., in the Henry Roberts Room on the 3rd floor of the administration building. Come celebrate the recipients of the Tonkin, Larsen, and Trachtenberg awards whose names have been added to the commemorative plaques in the Harrison Libraries.
The Tonkin, Larsen, and Trachtenberg awards are presented annually at the May Commencement ceremony to honor faculty members for scholarly/creative work, outstanding teaching, and service to the University, respectively.
At the May 2017 Commencement, the Humphrey R. Tonkin Award for Scholarly and/or Artistic Creativity was presented to David Macbride ‘73, professor of composition and music theory at The Hartt School. The Roy E. Larsen Award for Excellence in Teaching was presented to Warren Haston, professor of music education at The Hartt School and Cy Yavuzturk, professor of mechanical engineering at CETA. Catherine Certo, professor of physical therapy, ENHP, and Jane Horvath, associate professor of economics, A&S, received the Oscar and Shoshana Trachtenberg Award for Sustained Service to the University.
