The University of Hartford partnership with University High School of Science and Engineering (UHSSE) affords University of Hartford faculty and staff preference in the state run lottery for UHSSE. The lottery application season is open from now until February 28, 2018, for anyone interested in applying to UHSSE (or any other magnet school). UHSSE is a grade 9-12 Early College Magnet High School with a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) theme. All courses at UHSSE are taught at the honors level. In addition, qualified students also have the opportunity to enroll in University of Hartford courses on campus. Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to visit UHSSE on Saturday, February 3, 2018, for an Open House tour to learn more about the school and the courses of study. Those interested in attending UHSSE in the 2018-19 academic year may apply online at http://www.sde.ct.gov/sde/cwp/view.asp?a=2774&q=336818. In order to receive staff preference, UHSSE must be the student's first choice. Once the prospective student has applied, a copy of the application will need to be forwarded (with student name, staff member name, and application ID number) to Caryn Baseler, Magnet Instructional Coach, at basec001@hartfordschools.org in order to be placed on the Staff Preference List. Faculty or staff who have questions should contact Caryn Baseler at 860.695.9095.
