On February 3, the International Center sent a cohort of 24 University of Hartford students to attend the fifth annual Connecticut Area Study Abroad (CASA) Re-Entry Conference, hosted by the University of Connecticut. Students in the cohort represented all seven of the University's colleges, and collectively studied abroad in fourteen countries, including Australia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, South Korea, and Spain.
During the conference, students engaged in a full day of networking with study abroad alumni from peer institutions across the state, and learned how to effectively incorporate their international experience into resumes and job interviews. The conference also provided guidance for students interested in pursuing graduate school or additional opportunities to engage in an experience abroad, such as Fulbright programs, the Peace Corps, or other options to work, teach, or volunteer abroad.
University of Hartford student Reggie Dormelas, an accounting major who studied abroad in Auckland, New Zealand, was the winner of the conference's photo contest. Chanel Thomas, a mathematics major who studied abroad in Leeds, England, won an Amazon Echo Dot. The opportunity to attend this annual conference is open to all University of Hartford students who have participated in a University program abroad.
