The winners of the annual Alexander A. Goldfarb Juried Student Exhibition were announced at the show’s opening last night. Emily Hadorn and Krista Guerin were chosen by this year’s juror, Valentina Galossi, an international curator based in Rome, Italy, Berlin and Germany, who joined the crowd via Skype to deliver the winners’ names. Hadorn and Guerin were each awarded a purchase prize of $1,000 each.
In the late-1980’s, the Alexander A. Goldfarb Memorial Trust was created at the University of Hartford to honor the late Alexander Goldfarb and his dedication to the arts. This trust would fund the Juried Student Art Exhibition—as it was then called—to be held annually at the Joseloff Gallery.
All current students of the University of Hartford were invited to submit up to two works of art to be considered for the exhibition. Hadorn and Guerin’s individual works will now become a part of the Goldfarb Memorial Collection, owned by the Hartford Art School and proudly displayed throughout the University public spaces. The Hartford Art School extends its sincere thanks to all students who submitted work to be considered, and offers a hearty congratulations to Hadorn and Guerin for their outstanding creativity and artistic skills.
