It is with great enthusiasm that I reach out to you today. President Woodward and the Cabinet have approved that, effective immediately, the University of Hartford will provide our faculty and staff with paid time off to support our Center for Community Service’s ½ day Helping Hawks program. This program provides an opportunity for us to connect with our community outside the classroom, and gives our volunteers a chance to be a part of something bigger!
This year’s Helping Hawks is scheduled for Friday, April 6, 2018, from 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. If you are interested in participating in this community service opportunity, please work with your supervisor to request this afternoon off. You can register at www.hartford.edu/ccs. All volunteers will be provided transportation to and from project sites. After the program, participants will have the chance to enjoy a free barbecue sponsored by the Student Government Association and possibly even win a prize!
Note: Due to time constraints this year, the first 50 volunteers who register will be placed at local agencies in the Hartford area. Next year, we are hopeful that the number of volunteers exceed community service activities!
Many thanks to the Office of Human Resources Development and the Benefits Task Force for their thoughtful and diligent efforts in supporting this important community service day.
