Hartt Dance faculty member Miki Orihara released al DVD of the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE TECHNIQUE - Beginning Level.
This Martha Graham Technique Video is a unique, comprehensive documentation of the exercises that make up the Graham Beginning Level. The video introduces the viewer to the important elements of Graham technique: the contraction, release and spiral, driven by the torso and pelvis with the use of the breath and the floor. As in the typical Graham class, the exercises are divided into 3 sections: Floor Work, Standing and Across the Floor.
In addition, Hartt Board of Trustee member Peggy Lyman Hayes was included in the interview section. The interviews give the essentials of the Graham Technique and perspectives on Teaching Graham. Dance Division director, Stephen Pier was included as a voice over on the DVD.
