Hartt Dances is incredibly rich in having both the magnificent classic masterwork, Appalachian Spring, by Martha Graham and Aaron Copland plus the works of two incredibly prominent dance makers, Claudia Schreier and Bryan Arias. Claudia just finished a commission for the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago and Bryan's work for the Paul Taylor Dance Company was premiered at Lincoln Center in NYC. Along with these three works are two world premieres from Artistic Director of Vivid Ballet, Betsy McMillan and Hartt Dance graduate, Erica Nelson.
"With four new works and one timeless masterpiece coupled with the live orchestra under the baton of Edward Cumming, there is plenty for our dancers and our audience to revel in" said Hartt Dance Division Director Stephen Pier.
This unique event showcases pieces by predominantly female composers.
