Category: Accolades

Mechanical Engineering third year student Jonathan Brown has been awarded an Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the NASA CT Space Grant Consortium. His project, entitled “Acoustic Analysis of Spike Inlet Auxiliary Doors on Fan Noise Radiation” will be completed over the summer and subsequent fall semester under the direction of Dr. Paul Slaboch, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering. The goal of the project is to model and analyze the radiated acoustics from various designs of engine inlets on proposed supersonic aircraft. He will be working with specialized acoustic software, Actran, to simulate experiments currently being performed at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH. The results of the simulations will be directly compared to the experimental results for validation.
