Hartford Art School students Merav David and Rachel Harrison recently replanted Alumni Plaza with native species. This emerged from a project they completed for their Environmental and Ecological Art course, which was part of River Ambassadors and the Goal 2 grants.

Biology professor Bin Zhu in Biology advised the students on native species this semester in order to pull the plan together, and he supervised the planting.

This project was supported by the University’s Growing Partnerships Award project “River Ambassadors: Linking the Campus to the North Branch River through Art, Science and Policy Education,” conducted by Professors Sherry Buckberrough, Cat Balco, Colin McMullan and Carol Padberg in Hartford Art School, Professors Katharine Owens and Bin Zhu in Arts and Sciences, and Founding Director Mrs. Mary Rickel Pelletier from the Park Watershed.
