Please see the information below and attached flyer from a local non-profit organization that the University's Center for Community Service works with regularly:

End Hunger Connecticut! (EHC!), the only statewide anti-hunger nonprofit in CT, is a strategic leader and valued partner in expanding access to critical nutrition programs and advocating for key changes in federal, state and local policies and practices that promote good nutrition, healthy lifestyles and economic security. Not every kid looks forward to summer break. 1 in 5 Connecticut children who rely on school meals don’t know when or where their next meal will come from over the summer. We know, and we can help them know too. There are close to 700 locations across CT where any child 18 and younger can enjoy free nutritious meals with their friends all summer long. We also know that the best way to get the word out about these wonderful programs is through word of mouth accompanied by media and social media communications. That’s why End Hunger Connecticut!’s Nourish to Flourish campaign organizes Summer Meals Outreach Blitz events to bring volunteers and community partners together to go out into the community and talk with people about Summer Meals and to distribute information about how and where to find them. Our annual Summer Meals Blitz week is June 16 – 23, 2018 with Blitz events in locations across Connecticut. End Hunger CT! and its partners coordinate celebratory events in conjunction with the canvassing efforts to thank volunteers and create a fun and welcoming environment for kids and their families.
