Remembering Longtime UHart Professor Frank Chiarenza

Frank J. Chiarenza, longtime professor of English and former dean of the  College of Arts and Sciences, passed away on June 29.

Chiarenza served on the UHart faculty for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He served as A&S dean from 1967–78, was a participant on many faculty committees, chaired the Faculty Senate, and received multiple awards and fellowships, including a Sloan Foundation Grant for study at the Institute for Professional Management at Harvard University in 1970.

Twice named Professor of the Year at UHart, Chiarenza was presented with the University Medal for Distinguished Service in 1997.
