The Proclamation

In honor of WWUH Radio’s 50th anniversary, the City of Hartford proclaimed Monday, July 23, WWUH Day. Longtime WWUH General Manager John Ramsey and Harvey Jassem, professor emeritus and WWUH staff member, accepted the proclamation at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford. A special edition of the Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series—also honoring WWUH’s 50 years of broadcasting—was moved from Bushnell Park to the Church due to inclement weather.

“On July 15, 1968, WWUH went on the radio air waves as the voice of the University of Hartford,” the proclamation reads in part, “as a vehicle to provide Greater Hartford with professionally produced alternative programs not available on commercial radio stations.”

WWUH will be celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout 2018–19 with a series of events and commemorations of its history.
