Take a moment to think about the scariest thing you've ever done.
Now, take a moment to think about the scariest thing a Navy Seal has ever done.
Ask Kristin Beck, and she'll tell you, "One was parachuting out of a plane into the ocean with so much gear I was pretty sure I was going to drown, but knowing it was my job to do it, so I couldn't back out. The other was walking out of the house in a dress. I just wish I was prettier! Then I wouldn't just be a dude in a dress."
United Technologies Corporation, in collaboration with Pride at Pratt & Whitney, UTC-4-Vets, and the Pratt & Whitney Women's Council presents Kristin Beck, a U.S. Navy of 20 years and civil rights activist. In addition to meeting her, attendees will also get a special screening of "Lady Valor," a documentary featuring Kristin's search of the American ideals that she protected, which have a whole new meaning as she lives her life truthfully as a transgender woman.
The University Community is invited to a meet and greet with Kristen Beck and a screening of Lady Valor. The screening with be followed by a Q&A session.
