Book Launch of “Beautiful Fire” by Joyce Ashuntantang on Oct. 18

You’re invited to enjoy some fine poetry and celebrate the launch of Beautiful Fire by Joyce Ashuntantang, Associate Professor of English for Hillyer College.

Joyce Ashuntantang is a poet, actress, creative writer and Associate Professor of English within Hillyer College at the University of Hartford, Connecticut. She has appeared as an invited poet in many countries around the world, including Bangladesh, England, Germany, Costa Rica, Greece, Colombia, Nicaragua, Cameroon, and USA. She has published two collections of poetry to great acclaim, A Basket of Flaming Ashes and Beautiful Fire. She has also contributed to several international anthologies of poetry, including, Hiraeth Erzolirzoli: A Wales - Cameroon Anthology, Dhaka Anthology of World Poetry, Reflections: An Anthology of New Work by African Women Poets, We Have Crossed Many Rivers: New Poetry from Africa and World Poetry Almanac 2011. A graduate of universities on three continents, Dr. Ashuntantang received a B.A in English with a minor in Theater Arts from the University of Yaoundé Cameroon; a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales; and a Ph.D. in English/African Literature from the City University of New York. Her poems have been translated into Spanish, Greek, Hebrew, Turkish, Bengali (Bangla) and Arabic.
