With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
A documentary titled “Theeb and Jasser: From the deserts of Najran to the River of Chicopee,” produced by the Al Arabiya English news channel, is now available to view on YouTube. The documentary looks at the heroic acts of UHart student Theeb Al-Yami and his cousin Jaser Al-Rakah, who was a Western New England student. Both young men drowned in July of 2018 while rescuing two young children in the Chicopee River in Massachusetts. The documentary includes video of our campus and interviews with CETA Interim Dean Hisham Alnajjar, Professors Saleh Keshawarz and Doug Dix, Director of International Admission Sam Skinner and several students. It also includes an interview with the grandfather of one of the children, a first-responder, and Theeb's and Jaser's family members.
