Saturday, December 8 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. Many people believe that the feast celebrates Jesus' conception but in fact it celebrates Mary's Immaculate Conception. The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was, from the very moment of her conception, without sin. This means she was in a special state of grace, sharing in God's life, and free from the inclinations of sin.
A Vigil Mass will be celebrated for the feast at the Catholic Campus Ministry Center on Friday, December 7 at 5:00pm. Fr. Patrick Kane will be our celebrant.
