The 16th annual Barney business plan competition was held at the 1877 Club on December 3, and an award ceremony recognized the competition winners on December 10. The competition gives an opportunity to undergraduate and graduate students to present their business plans to faculty and alumni judges and compete for cash prizes, as well as the chance to move on to the statewide competition. The award ceremony event was sponsored by the Finelli family. Barney Dean Amy Zeng opened the award ceremony and recognized the awardees. Deans Alnajjar of CETA and Thompson of ENHP were also present. The competition was supported by the Entrepreneurial Center and Women's Business Center and Upper Albany Main Street.
Raphael Balas ("RB Air Charter Services") won the undergraduate competition and Wendy Calderon ("The Publication station") was the winner in the graduate category. Joseph DiMauro ("BootOut") won the undergraduate competition Alumni Choice Award sponsored by the Finelli family and awarded by The Alumni Group. Alumnus Antony Pepe of Robinson Tape and Label presented an award to the graduate competition winner.
