Photography professor Ellen Carey's work will be featured in Yossi Milo Gallery's upcoming exhibition,  Paintings with Light, a group show featuring abstract, process-driven photographs as varied in appearance, process and meaning as photography’s more traditional forms of production.

In the hands of this group of artists, the medium is reduced to its most essential and malleable element: the reaction of a given surface to the presence of light. Freed from its role as indexical record-keeper, photographs made by alternative means, often without a camera, transform into records of their own production.

Paintings with Light also includes works by Walead Beshty, Marco Breuer, Richard Caldicott, Jessica Eaton, Liz Nielsen, Hanno Otten, Alison Rossiter and Assaf Shaham, among others.
