Carol Padberg, director of the Nomad/9 Interdisciplinary MFA program, is presenting two sessions at the Multispecies Storytelling in Intermedial Practices Conference at Linnaeus University in Väjxö Sweden on January 23-25, 2019. Her first session is a workshop on her project "Kin Cards" which is a deck of 120 cards that fosters participants' reconsideration of individualism, and helps players develop a deeper understanding of symbiosis and interconnections between species. Her second session is a talk for the panel entitled NOISY STORIES: INTERSPECIES INQUIRY AND PRACTICES OF LISTENING. Padberg's presentation,"Wearing Pink Oysters: Living Textiles, Listening Textiles," details the development of her wearable textile sculptures that grow mushrooms and serve as conversation starters about the human microbiome.
