“Height and Slenderness: The Challenge of Designing the Tallest Residential Tower in NYC”
Jaein Choi is currently a Project Manager with Macklowe Properties, with nearly 10 years of professional experience. He has a broad experience of all phases of architectural design including schematic design, design development, construction document and construction administration. Previously Jae was a project manager with Rafael Viñoly, having joined the firm in 2010. Over the years, he has lead numerous high-profile skyscraper projects including 432 Park Avenue, 277 Fifth Avenue, 22 Thames Street and 125 Greenwich Street. His responsibility includes all aspects of design, including programming, code/zoning analysis, massing study, interior design and oversaw consultant coordination. He also has lead and managed design team during the construction document and construction administration phases of 432 Park Avenue, 22 Thames Street and 125 Greenwich Street. He was responsible for the design assist process of building enclosure, shop drawing review of all trades and attending weekly construction meeting for coordination.
Prior to 432 Park Avenue and 125 Greenwich Street, Jaein Choi was an integral team member for University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Smilow Center for Translational Research. He was responsible for the design of laboratory facilities, offices and lobby interiors. He was also an integral team member on Salon 94, a gallery located in downtown Manhattan, in which he was responsible for the design development and construction drawings of a new gallery storefront with large video wall display. Jaein Choi was also a team member for Rafael Viñoly Architects’ office and various high-end residential renovation projects in New York City. Prior to joining Rafael Viñoly Architects, Jaein Choi worked as architectural designer at Kono Designs on various residential and commercial projects, including Pasona Group Headquarter building in Tokyo, Japan.
