The University's Center for Montessori Studies will host Dr. Angeline Lillard, professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, who will speak on "Montessori Preschool Elevates and Equalizes Child Outcomes: A Longitudinal Study" on Wednesday, March 27. The event will take place in the Shaw Center in Hillyer Hall and begins at 4:30 pm with light refreshments. Dr. Lillard will speak from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, including a Q&A session.
The event will be followed by an open house and dessert reception from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Montessori Training Center Northeast, located in Butterworth Hall on the Asylum Ave. campus at 1265 Asylum Ave., Hartford. Dr. Lillard will hold a book signing, and tours of the center will be given.
Dr. Lillard has been studying Montessori methods for more than two decades and is an internationally recognized and well-regarded expert in Montessori education. Dr. Lillard presents Montessori's theoretical principles, the science research that has followed them, and how they are implemented in a Montessori classroom.
