Dr. Saleh Keshawarz in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Biomedical Engineering (CETA) and Dr. Bin Zhu in the Department of Biology (A&S) formed a faculty team to attend the meeting of the Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics (CBBG) from April 7th to 9th at the New Mexico State University (NMSU) at Las Cruces, NM.
The goal of this NSF-funded initiative is to allow geotechnical faculty members at primarily undergraduate institutions, along with one of their institutional colleagues from a different discipline, to explore and create new research collaborations with the CBBG, an NSF-funded engineering research center. The CBBG is spearheading a new approach to developing and maintaining geotechnical aspects of civil infrastructure that is inspired by efficient, cost-effective, and reliable natural systems and processes.
